Prologue

 

 

A few a million years ago numerous spaceships started scouring the Milky way galaxy. These spaceships had been newly created with an advanced technology that could analyse a vast array of solar systems and thus monitor a vast number of planets for life signatures, with amazing speed. 

 

The creators of this technology had discovered something though not entirely unique to living things.  What the technology determined was that all forms of life replicated. And how this was carried out, and how this caused environmental changes over a long period of time was carefully analysed by the spaceships.

 

Once a particular spaceship had picked up a potential life signature it would then travel at great speed towards the planet. Once it reached the planet in question it would land, then carry out analysis of any living creatures no matter what size. However, a few spaceships sometimes landed in unsuitable conditions, whereby to save the spaceship it would send out certain signals before the spaceship would go into a state of hibernation. Which could last for as long as it takes. But in the process the ship becomes almost indestructible. 

 

Lucy and Eddy though not their true names but used just for identification purposes were busy eating and gathering nuts on the floor. Due to the balance of rain and sunshine there had been an abundance of nuts and fruits that season. There was so much food around that could be eaten and gathered, that Lucy was happy thinking they would not go hungry for months. Unlike previous years. 

 

Lucy had her recently born baby clinging to her torso. As a result, she was wary as she gathered her food. She had reason too, there were always predators lurking in the long tall grass or hiding in the bushes. If they were to attack they would most likely target her baby.

 

Eddy, who was carrying a long stick with a sharpened flint rock at the end, was less cautious; A few days ago Eddy had fought a big creature with long teeth and a lot of hair on its head. Eddy managed to scare it away after wounding the creature, so he was feeling confident.  

 

Lucy and Eddy carried on eating and gathering nuts with Lucy cracking some of the nuts which she fed her baby.

 

Suddenly there was a bright light in the late morning sky...Lucy and Eddy had seen bright lights like this before. But that was always during the night, this was during the day and this light was almost as bright as the morning sun. And it was getting bigger. Then suddenly there was a thunderous booming noise that almost blew out their eardrums. The noise became constant.

 

Lucy’s baby started screaming. 

 

Lucy and Eddy could see other creatures suddenly running including the mighty beast that had two extremely long teeth and massive ears.

 

Lucy and Eddy were nervous, suddenly they ran like the other creatures as fast they could on all fours towards their cave.

 

When they reached the cave Lucy went inside the cave with the baby. 

 

Eddy stopped. He had changed his mind. Eddy decided to stay outside, he was curious, and also wanted to protect Lucy and his baby. From whatever it was coming at them. 

 

Unfortunately for Eddy a craft hovered past at such great speed that almost everything in its wake, rocks and trees and animals were swept up in its path, including Eddy.

 

Soon after the craft crashed into the earth with a thunderous crash causing numerous earthquakes, and throwing up dust clouds as far as the eye could see. In the clouds of dust were tell tail parts of the craft itself scattered over a wide geographic area.
